Valentina Shevchenko is the UFC flyweight champion once again with many wondering whether the number one contender or number two contender at 125 pounds deserves the next crack at the crown. The primary choices for the next title shot in that weight category are Alexa Grasso or Manon Fiorot, and a fellow flyweight in the promotion also has her thoughts on this topic.
Speaking on MMA Canada, Jamey-Lyn Horth discussed several topics leading into her Miranda Maverick fight at UFC Tampa on Dec. 14. After speaking about Alexa Grasso's case for the Valentina Shevchenko fight, being that they are 1-1-1 across their series of fights with one another, Horth said,
"Manon's just been on a tear. So, definitely a volume striker and again, not a slouch in the division. There's not one slouch in that top, top division and it's hard because I think every matchup has its different looks. I think that the top 10 and this top 15 even, any way you match it up, it's gonna be super exciting.
"It's going to change the rankings significantly like it's been flip-flopping all over the place. So what I think, I'd like to see Manon fight Shevchenko. I'd like to see Manon fight Grasso. I'd like to see Grasso and Manon fight and then, winner fight Shevchenko again. Erin Blanchfield is sneaking up in there too."

Valentina Shevchenko and Manon Fiorot's trash-talking
Valentina Shevchenko is not normally known as a fighter who delves heavily into the verbal warfare components of the fight game, but she engaged in a bit of bantering with Manon Fiorot relatively recently. This came in response to the surging contender, who is unbeaten in her UFC run so far, calling for a title shot in a fiery fashion.
Fiorot took to X and told the reigning champion to stop making people wait and that she wanted to unseat the UFC flyweight titleholder from her throne, also indicating she would retire Shevchenko.
The 36-year-old fired back at Fiorot by trying to curate a deal that if the hungry contender were to lose, it would be she who had to retire. Valentina Shevchenko ended her retort by calling Fiorot an ill-mannered first-grader.
The Kyrgyzstan native then got a follow-up response from Fiorot who said she would accept this retirement-related deal but would only take the champion seriously once she signed a contract.
